Analysis of the Most Healing Diet Known For Diseases (Vegan, Fruitarian, Raw, With Critiques, History, and Case Studies)
I often aspire to write a simple truth, about the diet that is most healing to the human organism, and the reasons, quite logical, that this is so. It seems so obvious on so many levels, that certain foods are clearly foods for human beings. And yet, the ideas here have been obscured on so many levels, that even entering into the conversation is like venturing down the proverbial rabbit hole.. I fathomed them intuitively as a child, and was lost, time and time again, as I veered way off course. How odd, I think, as I begin to write, that something as simple, as foundational, as essential as diet should require so much reading, and so many detours. This is the omnivore's dilemma, revised for non-omnivores; those tired of suffering.
We are taking a journey now, back to the heart of what actually matters. If this information supports anyone, as it has supported me, the time and effort invested will have been well spent. I don't need to necessarily change anyone's mind, and I know some minds will not be changed. My grandfather went to the grave eating bologna on Ritz crackers, after multiple quadruple bypasses. It didn't end well. The medications kept piling up; the surgeries kept failing. He went through the medical paradigm, to the only logical conclusion of that system... death.

Origin Story - Master Cleansing to Freedom
After years of working with clients, I decided to introduce various cleanses as possibilities in my consulting work. Most notably, the Master Cleanse, by Stanley Burroughs, as outlined in his inspiring and thought-provoking classic, The Master Cleanser and Healing for the Age of Enlightenment. I settled on this approach early on due to simplicity, efficacy, and economy.
I discovered that everyone got some benefit from cleansing, though often they would not show up in the short term… the detox symptoms were sometimes severe, and lasted for weeks or even months. It was valuable because, through the symptoms that arose, one could often get a sense of where in their body healing was needed, even before specific diseases manifested. The kidneys ached or the stomach burned or the joints throbbed. These were vital clues, invaluable from a preventative perspective. We can often hone in one symptoms, and reverse them, before a 'disease' ever manifests.
Also, as I cleansed, I noticed physiological signs of trauma healing, and the emotional and physical symptoms that arose from that. Releasing toxins from a certain timeframe, would be accompanied by the emotions of that period... followed by a beautiful clearing. I believe, as ancients likely believed, that by fasting and detoxification, most of our physical and emotional trauma can be released. Also, it remains anchored into our flesh in the form of toxic debris we carry around. Most healthy cultures of ancient times worked fasting in to some degree, often through religious beliefs.
I had done many master cleanses, though never longer than 10 days, and a 10 day water fast circa 2006, including many shorter fasts. It’s a tantalizing path, because I always felt most radiant and alive somewhere in the middle of a Master Cleanse; I just couldn't quite figure out to come off of it while retaining that 'high.' While on the cleanse, after the body entered the state of clean burning sugar, I felt like a hummingbird, bright eyed, buzzing through life. My friend did a 60 day Master Cleanse, and when she was done, she looked like a different person. Her eyes were shining, her skin was flawless, and physique was lean and strong. On some level, she was a 'new person', if many of her inefficient cells had traded places with bright, shiny new ones during the detoxification process. She was a Chinese-trained acupuncturist and herbalist, trained in Taoist traditions. Most Chinese doctors I'd met advised me to eat neutral foods like rice and noodles during healing (Reminiscent of McDougall and the Kemper Diet). I also had a Ayurvedic friend, who insisted that the Master Cleanse would never work for my Vata influenced dosha. However, 7 days in, she looked at my forehead and said... 'keep doing it, it is healing you.'
There are countless systems, ancient and modern. Here, we are scouring traditions for protocols that transcend systems... that apply to humanity generally; to the human organism.
A Master Cleanse, remember, is a cleansing regime that consists of intaking nothing but lemonade made of organic lemons, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper. There has been much research and conjecture as to why this works. The astringency of the lemons draw toxins out of the system while leaving an alkaline ash; the mucus-dissolving power of the pepper; the relatively clean-burning sugars (a mixture of glucose and fructose) and minerals in the maple syrup.
I've done this many times in winter. Living foods nourish the cells which warm the body. Cooked, hot foods, do not. I'll say that I always had cold hands and feet until embarking on the dietary strategies I'll show you below.
The disappointment came in the free fall... the return to solid foods. Whenever I began to introduce foods again, my familiar symptoms would return, which I'll go into more below.
I've tried any number of dietary approaches, including various modes of vegetarian diets, paleo, ketogenic, omnivorous, alkaline, blood type diet, and other, much stranger diets, such as one that encourages you to subsist mostly on animal fats, and to use butter, heavy cream, and bacon in abundance, while avoiding grains. I've tried supplementing with countless vitamins and minerals, including Dr. Barefoot's Coral Calcium, which created sharp ridges on my teeth; zapping myself with Hulda Clark's 'zapper' to kill parasites (Recommended read: The Cure for All Diseases: With Many Case Histories), countless 'yeast' cleanses, etc. If it exists, I've likely tried it.
Breaking Vicious Cycles
One long-term diet that proved somewhat effective was the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, as outlined in Elaine Gotschall's book, Breaking the Vicious Cycle, which I discovered circa 2008. This diet avoids specific starches and sugar, which damage the already damaged intestinal wall, so it can heal. It takes approximately 2-3 years. Fruit and honey are ok, though if fruit creates symptoms, it must be cooked (Ehret used that strategy as well). All other sugars are avoided.
"After carefully examining Judy, Dr. Haas asked Elaine simply: "What has this child been eating?" No doctor had ever asked her that question before. He then instructed Elaine in how to implement his simple nutritional approach. Within ten days of starting the regimen, the child's neurological problems diminished. Within a few months, her intestinal symptoms began to improve and she started growing again, making up for lost time. Within two years, she was symptom-free By this time, Dr. Haas had passed away."
I did this diet strictly for about a year. Many of my symptoms had diminished, though they were not gone. I found many of the principles effective.
Watching out for Quacks
As a side note, 'google' or seeking information online is both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, we can discover and connect with kindred spirits we might not otherwise have known existed. On the other hand, misinformation campaigns find their way into the system that way.
https://www.quackwatch.org/ is a good example of a well known site that 'exposes fraud and quackery,' written by an elusive MD. I wanted to mention this site because it is a beautiful example of the way misinformation works. Every time I've found a modality to be effective, I've gone to quackwatch to see it ridiculed and dismantled. I realized quickly what was going on... the site was designed to suppress practitioners and healing modalities that actually work. The site is an antiquated vestige of a system, which requires suppression of truth to sustain itself. It is not 'scientific' to remain entrenched in ineffective theories despite all evidence to the contrary. It is the same mentality that persecuted early astronomers for theorizing that the earth 'goes around the Sun.' When someone is ridiculing ancient systems, Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, and promoting the ingesting of relatively recently discovered (or invented) poisons instead, something is amiss. I just wanted to touch on that, in case it isn't glaringly obvious. The quacks are the ones the prescribed mercury for almost everything not long ago... they are now the mainstream medical establishment, while we work to clear out of our system the mercury that our grandparents took (which the Medical Medium, whom I'll soon introduce, suggests we carry in our DNA).
A Leap to Something More Radical and Effective
I found that, despite pretty regular cleansing, I was not making enough progress on my own personal healing. In 2015, I was living in the forest, and was walking and running regularly, including going to the gym 4-5 days per week, on a ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting, which stipulated a 'cheat day' where many practitioners eat whatever crap they can stuff down, as studies show that this can improve metabolism, muscle mass, strength, etc. For me, white I gained weight, I was noticing my symptoms getting worse, and congestion worsening in the head and lungs.
Evidently, movement and cleansing alone were not meeting my needs, or allowing me to reach the level of vitality that I’d envisioned for myself. I needed to do something else; something radical. I was aching for that abundant energy I sometimes felt on cleanses.
Burroughs on his imprisonment for practicing medicine without a license:
“After dedicating a goodly share of my past life in perfecting and simplifying a system of healing that is completely free from error and side effects, at a very low cost, I was forced to overcome many difficult obstacles that often threatened to stop me, but I persisted in spite of the medical and legal attacks. I was told in each case I was doing too much good, and to keep me from giving the help that solved their health problems I was sent to prison so I couldn’t help anyone any more. But … many of the guards, nurses and even doctors [in prison] came to me for help that no other system could [offer]. In prison I was not competing with their medical rackets, but on the outside I hurt their con games. If my system was made legal, the medical system would be of no further need.”
Stumbling into Eden - Going to the Source of Radical Dietary Healing
Ever since my mother healed crippling arthritis in her early thirties on a dietary regimen of green juice and fasting, transitioning into only whole foods, I'd always known intuitively that the body intelligence could heal anything. Now it was time to test this theory... on myself. I was suffering, in part, because I had not been living in alignment with my core values. I had fallen into the misinformation system. I had still been eating dairy, though it created symptoms and mucus, though I'd avoided it for long spells, as well as wheat.
I began to intensely research the most effective therapeutic diets for people for a variety of ailments. I focused on dietary approaches that ‘cured’ the ‘incurables’; diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, Lyme disease, AIDS. I had to sort through reams of bullshit to find my way closer to the marrow of the whole ordeal. I felt like the alchemist, in the laboratory, sifting through theories and case studies, always just at the fringes of the information I needed. I focused on diets and cleansing, because I knew intuitively that most of the 'supplements' I'd tried didn't work, or only provided marginal benefits at the expense of holistic vitality, and usually complicated the process. Some were downright harmful. I used to vomit regularly trying to take the prescribed amount of vitamin D, for instance.
There were other inspirations as well. My mother had been diagnosed with MS, and was using adrenaline and a modified paleo diet (Wahl's) to keep it in check, without much improvement over 5 years. She was reaching the end of the timeline where the drugs could be used without further eroding her system. My father had been diagnosed as 'bipolar.' He'd had his hip replaced at age 50, and my sister had had hers replaced at age 40. My whole world was contingent on discovering what in the hell was going on. (And I also did some constellations work around clearing trauma from the father side).
In many ways, we can look to our parents for where we are headed, if we don't affect a total life course alteration. The theory of detoxification at the root of illness means that wherever the congestion forms, the illness manifests. If this were true, I seemed to be activating a potential genetic proclivity for congestion to gather in the head... not to mention the fact that I'd suffered various head traumas over the years, which John Upledger believes can form 'energy cysts', pockets of stagnant energy in the tissues, which complicate congestion even more. (Recommended read about energy cysts: Somato Emotional Release: Deciphering the Language of Life). I include this as an aside, though I think it is fundamental to study how intricately layered the functions of the body are, in order to facilitate massive healing.
My personal challenges were a sinus infection, sudden tooth deterioration after a lifetime of no cavities, physical pain, low energy, frequent urination, congestion in chest and throat, hair loss, poor sleep, blurred vision, poor posture, skin rash, dandruff, dark circles under eyes, moodiness. The sinus infection was complicated by a tooth rotting out partially, as I was adverse to root canals due to the health complications they often trigger, and it was worrisome because the infection can sometimes escape the sinus and enter into the brain, according to the mainstream medical model.
By the way, in the mainstream medical model, there was no known cause or cure for any of these symptoms… only pharmaceuticals, which I had already over-used growing up. No surprises there.

A Standard Youth in Middle America
The sinus infection was not new, though it was becoming more and more difficult to ignore. When I was an infant, I was birthed through a drugged body and formula fed. Formula, a ‘scientific amalgamation’ of nutrients, is more marketing than food… the ingredients are mostly toxic, and certainly were when I was born, in 1979, somewhere in middle America. Also, for quite a few decades, formula was pushed on new mothers as the ‘ideal’ food for their new babies. Even after having recently become a father (via a natural, vaginal breech birth by the way, which you may have heard is impossible), free samples of crap formula containing high fructose corn syrup and other poisons arrived in the mail, as if on cue.
The design of formula is based on the mistaken notion at the root of most disease; that humans are creatures that require a ‘high protein diet’ with a wide array of 'nutrient dense foods.' The primary source of protein in most formula is whey, from cow’s milk. Grass-fed whey is still touted as an ideal source of protein by some natural health advocates (Mercola). Now, proteins content has been coming down in formulas, in an attempt to model them after the ratios in human mother’s milk; and they are still way off, in general.
Formula is the quintessential example of what is wrong with mainstream nutritional concepts today; there are all of the known minerals, amino acids, and proteins, including fats from various kinds of oils (including soy), all lumped together in a ‘formulated ratio’, under the assumption that the body can utilize nutrients that have been isolated from their source, which some practitioners find unlikely. And this doesn't mean that they pass through the system harmlessly. Anything that the body can't use is a drain to the life force, and does harm, usually leaving residual traces that need to be cleared out at a later date. If you use 'supplements', I suggest using those that are literally a ground-up plant.
It is not only the ‘nutrients’ that human systems use, but also the energetic of the complete plant that interfaces with the intelligence of the human system (cells, organs, organ systems). Not to mention the fact that this hypothetical ideal food is based on flawed assumptions: Cow’s milk contains approximately twice the protein of human milk (and more by some assessments), goat milk is slightly lower than that, though much higher than the protein ratios in human milk; primate milk has a similar protein ratio to human milk.
Considering what is actually in human breast milk, nutrition-wise, blew my mind:
"Mature human milk contains 3%--5% fat, 0.8%--0.9% protein, 6.9%--7.2% carbohydrate calculated as lactose, and 0.2% mineral constituents expressed as ash." 1.
These are the ratios that feed the rapidly growing and developing infant. The primary source of calories come from carbohydrates. There are also the psychological components and as-of-yet unrealized energetics of breast milk and nursing to consider. Ketogenic proponents consider a ketogenic diet to derive 80% or 90% of calories from fat, for 'healthy brain development.' Yet, the baby's brain develops more quickly than any adult brain, with only approximately 55% of calories coming from fat, and the ideal form of fat at that.
Well, damn. Nature had things pretty well worked out, it seems, before white men came swooping in to 'improve' the system. It's interesting to note that, while fat and protein ratios in mother's milk vary slightly according to the mother's diet, the carbohydrate ratio remains about the same, hinting that this is a critical factor to the infant, while the other components can vary slightly without significant difference. This is implied IF one trusts the body intelligence.
'Allergies' Are Often the Body 'Having Had Enough'
Years later, it would be discovered that I was allergic to cow’s milk, and this was my primary source of food. Later, wheat was added, which I was also allergic to. The system struggling to assimilate these non ideal foods lead to much congestion. As an infant, my ears often had to be drained of mucus. I still remember the feeling of laying on a cold table covered in crinkly paper, as this horrible sucking sound ensued. As a toddler, my mother could not understand why, when she put spaghetti on the tray in front of me, I would knock it off in a rage. Not traditional, hand-made pasta either, but genetically modified wheat, with highly acidic tomatoes from jars, usually with added corn syrup or sugar and an abundance of table salt. Dr. Sebi, who I'll introduce soon, thought that starch was unnatural, and fed 'anger and unnatural thoughts,' creating violent cycles in small communities and worldwide. Starch was needed to bind two elements together that did not occur in nature side by side. Because of this reason, it could anchor in two paradoxical thoughts, such as I love that person, and I want to kill them. The solution: cut out starch.
The mucus was building up in my body. In one sense, mucus seems to be the body’s reaction to inflammation. It forms a buffer to protect itself from inflammatory particles, or to isolate toxins. I was also a cystic fibrosis carrier, which I hadn’t known at the time, but which I’ve since discovered can make mucus more difficult to eject, rendering it sticky and stubborn.
Every year, I ‘came down with’ bronchitis that wouldn’t leave, so each year I went to the doctor, and they immediately offered antibiotics, which may or may not have supported. In any case, the core issue, diet, was not addressed. The symptom was addressed in a non-sustainable way. I was often x rayed as well, to see if the lungs had scarred. They never had… the doctor always said ‘No scarring, you were lucky this time.’
None of this was supported by the fact that I loaded my body with toxic non-foods, fast food and the like, for years. The congestion showed up in, probably first in my abdomen, as it was distended like a little ball, and secondarily in my lungs, as my beautiful body worked desperately to 'tuck it all away' somewhere.
In high school, there were few options; Burger King, Taco Bell, or these odd generic versions of 'school food,' which was a breaded, minced-chicken sandwich, with unknown ingredients, on one of those iron fortified white buns. I ate like this daily. My mother, by now, ate much better; sprouted breads, and mostly whole foods.
This dietary approach wasn't enough to heal her, unfortunately, and the symptoms of MS kept advancing. I want to reiterate that, while a general whole food diet may in some cases sustain a healthy body, it will rarely heal a diseased one. She also wasn't yet inspired to educate me on diet, and I see this often... the parents eat the way 'parents eat', healthy, and children are left to eat the way 'children eat.' Dr. Morse relays about seeing a mother eating a salad, and ordering the child a hot dog, and slapping his hand away when he reaches for one of her tomatoes. Perhaps this information will change some of that.
What are you Comparing It To?
The way the mass hypnosis works, is that we see the crowd doing something, either in actual representation or via images presented to us on the news, and we begin to consider that 'normal', even if it is anything but, as in Nazi Germany. When I introduce these concepts, people will often immediately object and say 'I eat better than so and so,' no matter how they eat. There is always someone eating 'worse' than us, and that is no reason to lower our standard. If we calibrate anywhere near the median or the average, we'll be mired in the world of 'disease' that the average person suffers from. This is an invitation to lift yourself out of that gravity, and aspire to a greater level of vitality than is even known in our culture. This is also why, when many people get into partnerships, they start eating worse, as they take on the dietary habits of the partner.
Remember that non-ideal foods are very addicting, because the body does not recognize them as a complete food... it feels as though it was 'almost' nourished; treat them as you'd treat a drug. Use them for the effect (usually numbing) only when absolutely nothing else has worked. They certainly effect the body chemistry as much if not more so than any pharmaceuticals known to man. We're all on a daily supply of 'depressants' and 'stimulants', and talking to therapists, trying to get to the root of why our moods swing in certain situations.
I facilitate somatic healing... I'm aware of the body / mind connection. Some of my history was soon to come flooding back because, as soon as I started deeper cleansing (the Gerson therapy followed by a diet of mostly fruits and a few vegetables), I started tasted antibiotics in my mouth. Because this was 35 years after the fact, I realized how tenacious the ingredients for those drugs actually are. Not only did they wipe out my beneficial bacterial flora, year by year, and likely facilitated the mutation and overgrowth of candida, they also left residue of inorganic sulfur and other chemicals, likely isolated in various tissues and suspended in mucus. Sulfur is also known to make mucus more difficult to remove. I saw this fairly clearly in my eyes, when I began looking into Dr. Jensen’s models of iridology. There was an orange ring around the pupil which, during cleansing, changed color and became more of a general dark brown. (recommended reading: The Science and Practice of Iridology by Bernard Jensen)
So, there I was, like so many others… a child unwittingly reared on non-foods, suffering the symptoms of living out of alignment with nature, and complicating the whole thing by ‘treating’ the symptoms as they arose, usually to the detriment of my life and vitality. Instead of cutting out formula, pasteurized milk, and refined wheat, I was given pharmaceuticals, based on the ‘sage’ advise of doctors.

Dr. Edward Shook, Advanced Treatise on Herbology (I found this epic work on ebay, in a binder that someone sold, that was their coursework while training with one of Shook's proteges).
"Disease is not cured by adding poisons to the body, but by eliminating them and observing the laws of Nature, aiding and assisting her in every possible way."
Instead of simply needing to clear out the residue from those foods, and the parasites that thrive in an imbalanced, acidic system, I also was charged with clearing out radiation from unnecessary x rays and pharmaceutical residue, and with healing the glands and organs that had been damaged. I noticed I was about to say ‘irreparably’ damaged. I corrected myself. Just about nothing is irreparably damaged, as I would come to discover.
As toxins cleared, I felt anger, sadness, desolation, hopelessness... the common emotions I'd felt around the time I'd used food to numb my emotions. So I concluded... emotional and physical toxins are linked in the body. The physical toxins anchor in the emotional toxins, and vice versa, so I began working from both directions with clients, to dislodge on all fronts.
Though Art What Thou Eatest... Connecting Diet to Wellness and Vitality
Mine is a common story. To understand why this flawed system continues to operate with little resistance, one has to simply watch where the money flows. And there may or may not be an agenda to destroy human health, as some channeled teachings have claimed.

During a three-day period, July 1 to 3, 1946, the United States Senate took testimony from nationally known cancer researchers relating to U.S. Senate Bill 1875, also referred to as the Pepper-Neely anticancer proposal. In this bill, Senators Pepper and Neely recommended the appropriation of $ 100 million from the U.S. government’s budget for cancer researchers to find a cure for cancer once and for all. After his two Washington, D.C.-based investigators, a physician and an attorney, reported back to Senator Claude Pepper (D-Florida) that Dr. Max Gerson did, indeed, have a successful treatment for cancer for the first time in history, the United States Senate invited a medical doctor to demonstrate his specific therapeutic approach for curing cancer.
Accordingly, Dr. Gerson brought five of his cured cancer patients and the records of five more for presentation before the Pepper-Neely anticancer subcommittee of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations of the Seventy-ninth Congress. The impressive testimony of this anticancer specialist and his patients caused Senator Pepper to call a press conference for bringing information about the Gerson Therapy before the media.
However, massive numbers of lobbyists for the immensely wealthy Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Association (PMA), the American Medical Association (AMA), and the American Cancer Society (ACS) prevailed on reporters to ignore the Gerson press conference and attend a cocktail party instead where free food would be served and libations would be flowing.”

This campaign against dietary measures as prevention and cure for cancer have been so effective that most people aren't even aware that there are alternatives. They'll often tell you something like 'if dietary protocols for healing cancer were effective, we would not need chemo or radiation.' Exactly, except they're wrong on the first point.
To paraphrase something I recently read somewhere: As any drug pusher will tell you, the profits come from the sick. The well are not customers.
So, we entered a parallel universe as a collective. Life shifted for millions. Suffering increased for untold numbers. But that didn’t prevent a few courageous practitioners from discovering, refining, and advocating a natural treatment for diseases generally.
By the way, pharmaceuticals may prove useful as a last resort, in some limited cases. In my case, and most others, they were offered as the first and only resort. If a dietary shift and a lifestyle change had not impacted my condition, and herbs were powerless to treat the symptoms, perhaps… though, I can still see how unlikely that all is.
My Personal Journey: And Oh, Mucus
After 2 months of a Gerson-inspired approach, as I lived in cabin in the woods, juicing hourly on my Greenstar twin gear juicer, (and I recommend something like it... asap) I was experiencing progress while desiring more. Much more. I was surfacing toxins, ill much of the time, and more driven than ever to move through it all.
I discovered Arnold Ehret’s Mucusless Diet Healing System and I read it voraciously. A courageous man, I thought. I’ve read this classic many times, and if you do nothing else based on my work and these writings, I encourage you to do the same. I believe that if children read this book at an early age, much suffering in the world would be drastically reduced. I was reading for myself, and for my parents, and for my younger self.
Also, while Arnold Ehret is an unrivaled genius, someone once called him the 'Einstein of the field,' he does suffer from his own illusions. Women seem to stop getting their periods during fruit dietary cleansing (and even stop getting PMS symptoms during a regimen of alkalizing). The theory is that this is the body detoxifying itself, and no more toxins are in the system to release. Some women get offended by this, however it is quite verifiable by many. Anyway, Ehret reasoned that the perfection possible was always male, and that these females were moving toward male, and that a fruit-eating mother always bore a son. I encourage women to read these books while overlooking this glaring over-simplification, residue of patriarchical religious thinking. All of us, even the most radical, are products of our time.

What might I have done or been without having to mobilize so much life force against easily preventable ‘diseases’? I was a singer, and my throat and nasal passages were often congested with mucus, blocking access to the higher registers.
“The real physiological cause of all evils, especially the physical ailments of mankind, can be traced directly to the present day accepted diet of civilization.”
What I’ve noticed about these simple strategies, is that when I introduce them, people will refer to me as extreme or a radical, because they are ‘too far’ from the standard American diet, for instance. I take this as a good thing; get as far away from the standard American diet as possible, for the most healing possible.
“The garden of Eden was a fruit orchard – and man has been tricked thru a wrong civilization into unconscious suicide, reduced to slavery thru producing wrong foods.”
Even the most radical, beautiful thinkers of the last centuries succumbed to pain and suffering due to ‘wrong feeding.’ I can’t help but think of how much more they might have done or produced if they had been able to apply their brilliant minds to the simple question of diet. For instance, what if Einstein had questioned assumptions of diet as radically as he questioned assumptions of physics (and he did make it to the vegetarian piece, so he wasn't too far off), or if the great composers weren’t congesting their brains and ears with mucus, only to decline into the inevitable illness?
“The error of high protein foods as a necessity of health, taught and suggested by medical doctrines to mankind is in its consequences and in its effect just the opposite of what it should be, it is one of the main and general causes of all disease; it is the most tragical phenomena of Western degeneration.”
Of course, I was struck by the similarity between Gerson and Ehret’s approach (living foods to replace 'dead' ones, avoidance of proteins and grains, the restriction / elimination of fats and salts... of course, they were probably linked, being prominent German health practitioners. Ehret was a pioneer in the popular Naturalist movement, which seduced many famous and literary figures, including Herman Hesse, and Gerson was the reason soldiers went to dried foods instead of canned after WW2; each prominent figures.
Praise of Arnold:
Dr. Benedict Lust, another living food health pioneer and writer, believed:
“Professor Ehret will get the largest following a diet expert could have. His system is the only genuine solution of the dietetic problem. He has given us more information than all the experts combined.”
Luther Burbank was quoted as saying:
“I have no doubt that Professor Ehret has found the fundamental cause of all disease.”
“Arnold Ehret was a man of unique insight with a prophetic understanding of how to cleanse and rebuild the body. It would take the world of orthodox medicine 80 years to catch up with him " - Gary Null, Ph.D.
The Mucusless Diet Healing System
Ehret discovered, through many years of trial and error (at least for his genetic profile) that the ideal food for humans was water-rich fruits. After years of introducing this fact to an obdurate public, he discovered that most people, after a lifetime of dead foods, weren't ready to transition to fruit, so he created a brilliant transition diet, which included some cooked foods, soups, salads (and looks interestingly like Gerson’s approach). He also writes "I've you've spent your lifetime on a protein rich diet, the transition to a fruit diet could be dangerous, so use the transition diet first." The Cause and Cure of Human Illness, Ehret.
At first, I found the word ‘Mucusless’ in the title as unappetizing at best, poor marketing at worst. Then I realized, as I flashed back to all of my direct experience with mucus, that his choice of words hit the nail on the head. Mucus formed the core tenet of his dietary theories, and it is fascinating to note that his quest for healing was positioned as a war against mucus. When the body is free of obstruction (mucus), disease does not and cannot exists, and this is not only physical disease, but also ‘mental’ diseases, which, yes, he referred to as ‘insanity.’
Dr. Sebi, another reknowned healer and herbalist, achieved similar results, and we can learn much about healing through his powerful work. As if to echo Ehret, he referred to his diet as the ‘Mucus Reducing Diet’. In a lecture on youtube, I remember him saying ‘Disease is always about mucus. Your disease has to do with where this mucus accumulates in the body. If it’s in the brain, they’ll call it Alzheimer’s or Demensia; if it’s in the lungs, they’ll call it pneumonia.’ Etc. Sebi ran a clinic in Honduras, and an interesting book was written by Beverly Oliver after she visited there: Sojourn to Honduras. Though I think she misses some of the point as she elucidates her idea diet foods toward the end, the book gives an overview of some of his principles. He was famous for treating Michael Jackson, Left-Eye Lopez, and others. He was ridiculed and harassed when he tried to bring his theories out into the world (per usual). Most of his most outspoken advocates in contemporary times are African American. This is interesting because, according to Sebi (and an interesting book Alkalizing Herbal Medicine by an enthusiast of his, Aqiyl Aniys) this diet of sunlight, fruit, and fasting was able to heal the ‘African genome in all people.’ Ehret, Lust, and almost all of the early naturalists advocated fresh air, sunlight, bare feet, and often nudity as part of their healing regimen.
Like Sebi, Ehret was not merely a theorist. He tested his ideas on himself and his clients over decades.
As he wrote:
“For over 10 years I wrote articles for health journals, lectured in the large cities of Europe, discussing the merits of the system with medical men and professionals, and treating thousands of patients at my fruit and fasting sanitarium.”
Few can claim such impressive numbers.
I have a unique ability to ascertain the mucus potential of foods, due to the residual sinus infection. As soon as I eat something that is mucus producing, the right side of my head becomes congested.
Also, Ehret says some foods 'contain' mucus, and others seem to 'create a mucus response' in the body, such as certain nightshades. The ones that 'contain' mucus are starches. Rice starch, for instance, is very 'slimy', and after eating something like popcorn or rice, I can feel the starchy mucus leaving through the nose.
Here is a useful reference point... Mucus Free Foods. Keeping a majority of your diet on the 'mucus free' side will heal just about everything. This is not a theory... it has been tested over the course of a century. The only challenge now is that many of us have eaten worse, taken more medications potentially, and absorbed environmental toxins that perhaps didn't even exist while Arnold was practicing. Dr. Morse has said that in the 70's, he could facilitate healing with just fruit, and in more contemporary times, for most people, herbs may be required as well.
Naturally, when I discover someone that seems to have mastered dietary strategies and achieved an impressive level of vitality, I tend to research how long they lived.
A word about Ehret's death:
OCTOBER 10, 1922
On a peasoup-foggy Los Angeles night, so heavy that you couldn't see past your arm, professor Ehret had just finished a series of four lectures on “Heath thru Fasting” at the Assembly Room of the Angeles Hotel on 5th and Spring St. A woman approached Ehret and asked him if he would have a glass of orange juice with her at a nearby restaurant, with her intention being to reduce the cost of a forthcoming course if she brought in two or three others.
Ehret was sympathetic enough to hear her out and perhaps grant her wish. Hirsch however felt it was unfair to some of the others who had paid the $100 fee – a lot of money for 1922. The free lectures filled up the assembly room every evening and the response was excellent.
Hirsch was saying no to the woman, but Ehret agreed and they walked down Olive St. to search for an open café. The woman ran ahead checking the shops to see if one was open, then she called out “This way professor, hurry, he'll stay open for us.”
In those days cars leaked a lot of oil and the paved area in front of the “White Garage” on Olive St. was both oil soaked and wet from the heavy fog. Hirsch was slightly ahead when he turned to take the elbow of the man who had saved his life seven years before...but Professor Ehret was lying on his back by the curb. Ehret was wearing new shoes and his foot slipped on some spilled car oil. He had fallen without a sound. In this fall, the base of Ehret’s head struck the point where the curb met the driveway.
Fred Hirsch dropped to Ehret's side to give first aid while the woman called for help. The ambulance came quickly from the nearby Police Department Emergency Hospital located at 3rd and Hill. The doctor who received them took one quick look at professor Arnold Ehret and said “This man is dead.”
Ehret left no money or family in America. Hirsch ordered a medical report; then Ehret was cremated the next day, something Hirsh knew the professor desired to have done. Hirsch and the local group of Ehretists, who felt Ehret was some kind of a prophet, together picked wildflowers for his grave. 2
So the evidence in terms of longevity and this diet... inconclusive. I find it an odd coincidence that he passed away as soon as he started to lecture more widely.
Dr. Morse: Berries, and Melons in Florida
Around this time, I was also introduced to Dr. Robert Morse, who’s long-winded lectures on fruitarian healing proliferate on youtube. He’s used only fruit and herbs to support healing of most of the disease ‘invented’ by the medical establishment, including the ‘incurable’ or ‘life threatening’ ones. His perspective is useful, in my mind, because Ehret’s practices intersect with the most up to date scientific knowledge. He also wrote a fascinating and useful book, The Detox Miracle Sourcebook, which I highly recommend.
Because he’s been practicing for decades, he’s known many of the pioneers, like Dr. Jensen, who’s library he inherited. I encourage you to watch the videos and get a sense of what is possible. In order to deny the validity of this approach, and accept a hypothetical theory instead, one would have to really close one’s eyes tightly. They can erode misinformation over repeated viewings.
If you watch the videos over the years, Dr. Morse seems to be growing in vitality. He has some unique theories, and has confessed to not living up to his own ideals. He seems as though he may be somewhat naturally heavy, weight-wise, and some of his teeth seem to have been replaced (which is often a critique of the raw food or fruit diet, which I'll go into a little later). Also, he wears relatively thick glasses. Sebi found that after a longer fast, he 'went blind' for a few days, and when his vision came back, he could see with crystal clarity.
Dr. Morse seems to hold some negative feelings about breast feeding, being generally against milk, and advising mothers to put them on fruit as quickly as possible, after 3 months. From his perspective, this may make sense, dealing with terminal ill people and even deathly ill children, but in the grand scheme of things, it may offend many mothers.
Nothing is rehearsed... he simply goes through the videos answering emails from people in pain. Talks on fruitarian healing and herbology are interspersed with mystical talk on 'other realms', and many fruitarians have experienced leaving the body regularly during times of pure fruit.
In my mind, he is a warrior, a blessed resource, and a beautiful human being. Even if a few of his theories may be arbitrary or subjective... his system still works wonders.
The Challenge of Simplicity
The concept is simple: the simplest diet of fruits and non starchy vegetables / herbs will nourish the body at the core, and allow it to focus on jettisoning accumulated toxins, while rebalancing systems, and regenerating tissue, in the most appropriate order for the body intelligence. These are mostly to be consumed raw, (though Ehret advises cooking fruit at first if it is too cleansing / astringent for those that are loaded with toxins. One of his strengths is that he is not arbitrarily 'attached' to 'raw' as some are, but simply advocates what he's seen to work).
It is comical to me that this is also elucidated in the first mention of food in the bible;
"And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat." Genesis, 1:29, King James Version
This simplicity is difficult to accept. What about the proteins in meats? What about seeds? What about dairy or butter? What about vitamins and minerals? Etc.
The system is polluted from over indulgence and chemicals / non-foods. The way to heal, in this case, is to un-pollute it, with under-indulgence (fasting and simplicity / mono-dieting), and eating a narrower range from the omnivore's plate (mostly fruit). This, in theory, gives the body a change to rebuild itself from scratch, during and after the removal of toxins from various tissues. If, in 7 years, we have an entirely new body, we can have an entirely new 'perfectly functioning body.' Assuming we can stick to the approach, and that we have enough vitality to get us through the detoxification process.
I will say that this approach is challenging for people to accept, and I understand completely, because it was for me. I heard the voices howling “you need protein” as I spent months eating mostly oranges, occasionally falling off of the wagon and stuffing a crust of bread in my mouth. Just to drive that voice into the ground, I religiously avoided protein-rich foods for a year.
And then there were the starch and sugar cravings, which I was certain were not my own, but the cravings of the ‘parasites’ that had overtaken my body. Those subsided over time, usually to the accompaniment of a bout of suffering. This occurred to me when a friend was clearing mold from her body, and she felt it swirling around the room, calling her name, as she nearly died. These species are a vast intelligence that run us on many levels, and once rooted, it is their sole purpose to proliferate and maintain their home.
'Fruit Makes Me Sick' and other Fictions
For months, I was experiencing the detox. It felt like a cold, chills, fevers, headaches, lethargy. I knew how to slow it, by introducing cooked foods, and how to stop it entirely, with protein-rich foods or fats, and how to speed it up, by introducing herbs or fasting. This was empowering, because suddenly, I was no longer a victim of ‘illness’… I was in control of my destiny. I was delving into detoxification on purpose.
Yellow mucus poured forth from my nose daily, mostly the right side, which ached. Sometimes, large, gelatinous orange pieces came forth. A few months in, a large glob of blood ejected from the left side. ‘Sleep’ from the eyes, yellow. From the other end, black detritus filled the toilet bowl, white sheaths of plaque, and unidentifiable parasites. I'd seen some weird shit, literally, during the master cleanse, and this was a whole new level. Many people start the detox, and simply don't finish.
Pains I hadn’t felt in years reared up. A debilitating headache rendered me immobile for three days. My right temple ached, as it had ached in high school, when a holistic doctor advised me to rid myself of it by avoiding my daily Welch’s grape soda. Perhaps there was a ‘nests’ of yeast in the area or something. It was also where I'd knocked my skull against the ocean floor and broken my neck years before.
I stuck with it. Sometimes, cravings arose, with a terrible internal itching, through my urethra and anus, as parasites or yeast died off. I used enemas with lemon water, having given up the Gerson-inspired coffee enemas, after listening to Dr. Morse advise against them.
My face swelled up, and my scars, from old cysts on my face, would turn red, peel, and fall off, only to be left shallower and smoother. I took pictures of my irises monthly, to document, and progress in that way was slow, though I could see some in the early months. More green was showing through from beneath the brown, and the dark line that ran down the center of my right iris, bisecting it, thinned.
After using a few ear candles,I felt breath enter my head for the first time on the right side. A nail on the left hand came in thicker, for as of yet unknown reasons, though I think perhaps that 'channel' in the meridian system was strengthening. A front tooth on the same side became slightly more transparent, as perhaps the body drew minerals for rebuilding.
Herbal Aside: The herbal protocols I use derive from Dr. Sebi, as outlined usefully in the book Alkaline Herbal Medicine, Dr. Morse formulas, which I have used, and also make my own variants, and from Dr. Edward Shook. I usually encapsulate the ground up herbs, to take in the whole plant, make teas, smoke certain herbs, and ocassionally purchase tinctures.
The Mythical Healing
There is a point, after a period of detoxification, when a profound healing seems to occur, which is followed by a deep sense of wholeness and increased energy.
I’ve glimpsed this during fasting, when I stayed up for most of the night writing and creating, without feeling fatigue or any pain, but I haven’t reached it in life generally.
Ehret experienced his like this:
After a two-years' cure, in Italy, of Bright's disease with consumptive tendency, by fasting and strict living on a mucusless diet, I ate two pounds of the sweetest grapes and drank half a gallon of fresh, sweet grape juice, made from the best and most wonderful grapes grown there. Almost immediately I felt as though I were going to die! A terrible sensation overcame me, palpitation of the heart, extreme dizziness that forced me to lie down and I was seized with severe pains in the stomach and intestines. After ten minutes the great event occurred-a mucus foaming diarrhea and vomiting of grape juice mixed with acid-smelling mucus and then the greatest event of all! I felt so wonderfully well and strong that I at once performed the knee-bending and arm-stretching exercises 326 times consecutively. All obstructions had been removed!

Note that this was after ‘two years’ of a strict mucusless diet (raw fruits and starchless vegetables). Most people who deride this system do so after a short duration, when they are still in the throes of detox. Unfortunately, they usually veer in the opposite direction, re-acumulating toxins until a time when they reach a critical point, which catalyzes another redirect. I discovered one article online where a person lampooned the fruitarian diet because he felt ill after being on it for 3 days! And Ashton Kutcher floats up to the top in google if you look up the word ‘fruitarian…’ about how he nearly died after attempting it for a short time.
I mentioned Dr. Sebi healing his vision. Ehret seems to have achieved 'perfect immunity to all diseases'... at least he thought he had. I'll go into that more below. If people practiced this diet, would vaccines be needed at all, if they're needed now?
Remember, ‘google’ is not entirely democratic. The most healing dietary approaches, for whatever reason, I’ve found are made to look absurd on google. And the most effective practitioners are often slandered.
Disease is Detoxification - It doesn't exist otherwise
According to this paradigm, most (and perhaps all) of our symptoms in life are our body trying to rid itself of something. So it is no wonder that, when a clean diet is eaten, old toxins begin to leave the system.
Think of it like this… proteins, fats, and starches are congestive, and so will ‘depress’ the healing response. The body needs to focus on the new substances being taken in, and does not have the spare energy to eject whatever was ingested in the past.
Eating fruit is living ‘where you are’… without any substances to suppress your symptoms. If you’re sick on fruit, you’re sick, and most of us are sick, suffering from the diseases of indulgence.
Almost in every instance, a client considers their physical health as ‘fine’, but as I question more, they’ll say something like ‘oh I have a cyst on my ovary’, or ‘oh, I’ve had my gall bladder removed.’ We need to set higher standards for health, and find the paths over and beyond health, to true vitality.
If one can go a few days or weeks eating just fruit, detoxificaiton symptoms will surface. In other words, you’ll ‘become ill.’ The parlance of our time renders it as ‘I caught something’ or ‘I came down with something.’ In all of those cases, the body is simply trying to rid itself of something, and come back into balance. Usually, it is not a ‘bug’ that attacks us, but something that we ingested willingly. Through this, we also weaken our immune systems, and cripple our lymphatic system, so sometimes a 'virus' will take root after years of abusing the system. It is not the virus itself, but the fact that the system is overloaded. Cleansing is the solution for viruses as anything else, which is why this approach has supported people in healing AIDS, herpes, lupus, shingles, etc.
Some raw food-ists, fruitarians, and even proponents of ‘very natural cooked diets’ have found that diseases do not exist for themselves on the diet.
Take a look at this interesting passage from The Water of Life (from 1944):
“Chronic diseases,” he adds, “are growing at such a rate that America may become a nation of invalids. More than half the hospital-beds in the United States to-day are occupied by sufferers from chronic mental and physical diseases. Middle-aged and elderly persons are not the only sufferers; many children are victims.” (See Health Practitioners Journal, June, 1944.) One may ask, if sera and vaccines are liable eventually to produce heart-disease and other chronic serious ailments, why then are they boosted by the B.M.A.?
For, first of all, as Dr. Alfred Pulford, M.D., has tersely remarked: “Any one who can prevent an occurrence positively that he does not know is bound to occur is indeed a seventh day wonder”; and secondly certain renowned bigwigs in the Medical Profession have demonstrated that the most “deadly” germs are harmless in a healthy body. We read that “Prof. Metchnikoff said he found the bacilli of Asiatic cholera in the waters of many localities, but no epidemic or plague or disease was ever known to be at any of these places before or after his findings . . . . Prof. Tentenkoffer swallowed several million germs of the deadly (?) Asiatic cholera . . . . Nothing happened.
To verify the test. Prof. Emmrich made a culture from the intestines of newly dead victims of the disease, and swallowed millions of germs, with no noticeable results! To test even more thoroughly, and in far more frightful conditions, Dr. Thomas Powell allowed the germs of seven deadly (?) diseases to be shot into his blood-stream—blood-stream— and was as alive ten years later us on that day, and as healthy.” (Extract from Naturopath and Herald of Health.)
Nevertheless these facts are not made known to the general public, nor do those who urge members of the community to be immunized against this or that disease inform them that not all doctors are in favour of such measures, being of the opinion that vaccines and serums may later on produce chronic afflictions, not the least of which is heart disease.

This aligns well with the experiences and case studies of Ehret and Sebi. It is the standard view of the 'old time doctors' that were resisting the rise of modern medicine.
"It has been over a year since I published my experiences in the journal Vegetarian Observer, in which I described staying in a malaria-infested area of Italy with a former student of mine. With pulse rates between 42 and 52 we intentionally sought out malaria infested areas, sleeping outside and going on long, strenuous hikes.
I have offered my knowledge about absolute immunity against tropical fevers to all government offices of Europe and America dealing with foreign and colonial affairs. I maintain- and I am ready to prove - that I am immune to cholera and will not contract it even when I eat unripe fruit. Furthermore, everyone who lives according to my dietary rules will also acquire total immunity. It is my duty and moral obligation to inform everyone about these findings, based on empirical personal, scientific exploration, in order to help those people who seek strength and resist deterioration through disease." The Cause and Cure of Human Illness, Ehret.
If this is true, might this simple system be threatening to other, entrenched systems?
Raw Food Misunderstandings
Googling 'Raw Food Diet' won't give you much. There are some quirky personalities, and cook books for sale.
‘Raw foodism traces back to the late 1800s, when Maximilian Bircher-Benner, a doctor, discovered he could cure his own jaundice by eating raw apples.’ - US News review of raw foodism, ranks the diet as #36.
While Bircher-Benner is a great resource for dietary healing (read any of his books on raw food), and supported patients in healing much more than his own jaundice, ‘raw foodism’ is not a quirky 19th century fad (as it has been presented)… it has been used therapeutically and for spiritual reasons since ancient times, probably practiced by Pythagorus, and likely other founders of Western Civilization. Manicheans, an early sect of Christians, were probably largely fruitarian. Suggested reading Heretic's Feast, on the persecution of early vegetarian Christians.
(Also, I notice that most of the best books I've come upon on diet are no longer in print).
Bircher-Benner, by the way, is famous for inventing Mueslix for healing. However, as an observation of the way ideas are corrupted over time, he advocated a tablespoon of soaked mueslix with a tablespoon of milk and 3.5 cups of apples. Now, people mostly eat a cup or two of mueslix with a cup or two of milk, which will likely nourish disease, not facilitate healing.
In Ancient Wisdom for Total Vitality, Master Wang mentions that the ancient Taoists, when they were on the cusp of enlightenment, escaped the temptation of rice in the cities, and moved to the mountains to live on berries, herbs, and pine needles. Xu Yun, in his autobiography, Empty Cloud, reported years in the forest when he ate only raw pine needles.
Christ as an Ancient Holistic Health Facilitator (Facilitator of Miracles)
Johnny Lovewisdom translated an early Gospell, which he titled “The GodSpell of St. John”, which goes deeply into healing via cleansing and internal purification, presumably based on the practices of the Essenes.
Here’s an interesting quote, with Christ facilitating a fast, and then supporting in the expulsion of a parasite:
“The Christ held the head of the invalid in his lap, and brought the earthenware tray closer to the patient’s nose, saying, “Breathe in deeply so the Angels of Water, Sunshine and Air within the milk’s vapor re-possess your body, and cast out Satan. “The invalid breathed deeply of the milk’s vapor rising from the pan of milk. Again, the Anointed encouraged his patient further, saying, “Now, do not lose faith, there is no need to despair, because Satan shall immediately leave your body by your mouth, since he is overcome by hunger because you forced him to fast several days. Summoned by the welcome odor of fresh milk, he shall come out of hiding to partake of the warm milk, because FRESH MILK IS THE FAVORITE FOOD OF SATAN.
Then suddenly, the body of the patient was seized with ague as he sought to vomit but could not. He gasped for air but could not breathe, causing him to faint, as the Healer held his head and held open his mouth to the air. Now pointing to the mouth of the invalid, the Healer-Savior in John said, “Look within the patient’s mouth, because you shall see Satan already coming out”. They all looked as he bid them, and to their horror, and astonishment, they all saw Satan slowly, and cautiously, coming out of the fainted victim’s mouth going straight into the pan of milk. Then, the Savior took advantage of this situation and beheaded the aforesaid Satan, which was pulled out of the patient’s helpless body which the abominable beast had tormented for so many years, the victim recovered his breath, breathed deeply and cried with tears of joy. With great difficulty, he even got up on his feet and walked a few paces. He was filled with happiness to see he really could walk again. His strength returned, his cloudy vision turned clear, and thus he was able to see clearly his Savior, the Anointed of Spirit, who with a loving smile looked upon him.
So happy was the Savior for having been able to help this helpless victim, that he rejoiced with him, observing, “Look at this great beast that has been lodged in your intestines, how corpulent and well nourished, it was, because it fed from the richest part of the food you ate, leaving your body thin, undernourished and without strength to work. Now that this may not occur again, you must not feed upon such abominable foods as you did before, so that your body may become pure and clean. Then, it shall become a Temple of the Lord, your God, who shall live within you in the dwelling of your heart. All that were gathered there were filled with Joy and marveled at the Wisdom of the Anointed, and they said, “Master, you certainly must be the Messenger (Angel of the Holy Spirit) of the Lord, for you know all the Secrets to removing illness and saving health.”

Johnny Lovewisdom was a quirky character, to say the least, though I’ve found some of his research on fruitarian and healing diets to be some of the best there is, though much of it with a biblical gloss, as with Ehret. (Afterall, Lovewisdom thought he was John the Baptist reincarnated).
Lovewisdom distinguished between ‘growth’ energy and ‘no growth’ energy, or ’subliminal’ growth energy (spiritual growth). Protein is of course ‘growth’ energy, which is why it also can feed tumors. Cutting out growth energy, heals tumors.
As he puts it in Spiritualizing Fruitarian Diatetics:
“The right-hand list of No Growth Energy radiation is of interest to Fruitarians. The lack of direct action on fruits makes fruits ideal for healing cancer and all tumorous growth of disease organisms. This gave Dr. Anna Brandt’s ‘Grape Cure’ such success, later promoted by Dr. Edmond Bordeaux Szekeley. Even carrots in juices gave better results than garden greens, while tomatoes and squash may even prove better, while fruits and their juices are the most popular healing regimen even promoted by ordinary medical doctors. In short, Everlasting Life Energy is distinct from Tumorous Growth Energy. Briefer yet, Subliminal Potential is sought excluding Growth Potential. So in Paradise, the green herbs were for beasts and human infants needing growth energy, but reaching maturity, the Fruits were thus from the Tree of Everlasting Life and the Blood of the Son of Man was of Vine Fruits.” P. 13.
The problem is, most of us look to deficiencies when we fall ill, and begin turning toward what we learn are 'nutrient dense' foods. In a system that is already congested, these foods are no longer nourishing the body... they are nourishing the disease, if they can be called 'foods' at all.
When I visited a Chinese healer in my mid twenties, I stumbled in, complaining 'I'm allergic to wheat, dairy, and eggs! Help!' His reply... 'you're not allergic... those aren't food.'
Master Wang wrote Ancient Wisdom for Total Vitality, which covers some of the ground I'll cover here. I heard him speak at a lecture at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, and then set up a few appointments with him at his office in the Mission of San Francisco. His super-hydration regimen didn't work for me, as I drank 4 liters of hot water daily before noon, and urinated at least that much. I'll talk more about water below. I made some progress, and just avoiding the non-foods, or reconsidering what food was, was a great leap. In graduate school, I mostly lived on organic sprouted bread, eggs cooked in coconut oil, and arugula... the foods you'd think were ideal brain food after reading Grain Brain.
I got sicker, lost hair, and my health fell apart. Again, never feed a congested system 'nutrient dense' foods or even non foods. Even 'hard gainers' or skinny children are congested, which is why they can't absorb or assimilate nutrients. The solution is to cleanse the system, not keep piling further layers of toxins atop those already present.
Blood of Christ... Grape Juice?
I've had similar ideas as Lovewisdom, before I'd heard of him, about unpasteurized grape juice being the original ‘blood of christ.’ I often bless it in such a way, and have noticed some amplified healing energy around it. I'm not at all religious, though intensely 'spiritual', and often seek the seeds of truth in religious teachings.
Grape juice seems to be the most healing food for humans. ‘Wine’ is the fermented grape (likely to occur without cold storage), which perhaps was also a ‘fermentation’ of the original message over time? According to Lovewisdom, the ‘bread’ of Christ was a dried fig or other fruit loaf, not sprouted grain (growth energy).
There are other interesting biblical references to ‘living water.’ I noticed that when I ate all fruit, I barely urinated and I never thirsted. This resonated to me in the sense of ‘once one partakes of the living water, you’ll never thirst.’
Water is mostly dehydrating, because it is a solvent, usually without the requisite intelligence. We’re simply diluting our chemistry, not to mention polluting ourselves further if the water contains contaminants, as most does. Living water comes to our lips in the vessel; in the skin of the fruit.
Many cultures consider spring water sacred. IN a world with pristine spring water, that we can draw from the living source, that is not contaminated with pesticides, fertilizer runoff, etc, natural spring water is probably life giving, as it is likely still encoded with the correct information.
Most water is actually de-hydrating and polluting, as I learned from The Master Fast System (which I don't recommend unless you're using unpasteurized grape juice), which one mostly cannot buy anywhere.
The Waters of Life: Drink from your Own Well?
John Armstrong also considers urine as living water (as put forth compellingly in his book, Water of Life: A Treatise on Urine Therapy) another suppressed book about many alternative approaches to healing ‘cancer’ and other diseases.
I've used urine therapy to catalyze healing responses and as a biofeedback tool. When one eats ideal foods, and the body heals, urine tastes purer than distilled water. It is custom crafted according to the body's needs. Eat non-ideal foods, and watch what the body immediately goes to reject. Urine is not 'waste', according to this paradigm, but superfluous nutrients and mineral salts that the body could use, were they not over abundant in the food. Proteins create the worst tasting urine; one can tell that the protein, which older medial writers referred to as albumen, leaves the body immediately, as bitter amino acids. A caveat; during times of cleansing, DDT's and other chemicals have been found leaving the body through the urine. The reason urine therapy works, is because the 'medicine' contains a homeopathic dose of the poison. Though, perhaps use caution around ingesting and re-ingesting toxins.
I discovered Urine Therapy because I was reading the teachings of the Buddha, praying for a healing, and the page I opened to mentioned 'The only medicine that the monks are to use is medicine made from human urine.' In fact, the uric acid and other constituents from urine comprise many contemporary medicines.
Raw Food Pioneer, the Armenian Scientist
Aterhov, aka Arshavir Ter Hovhannessian (1898-1990), the Armenian doctor who cured himself with a raw food diet, was an advocate of sprouted nuts, grains, and seeds.
" Daily irritations changed to twice a week, then to once a week, once a month and later still to once every two or three months, until finally the treatment was so successful that today, I do not feel at all that I have even suffered from hemorrhoids. The cure was especially speeded up when I began to take salads of sprouted wheat every day."

Thinking of wheat as 'sacred' and healing is not new. Dr. Morse is totally averse to grains and proteins. 'Gluten' has adverse effects on the human system by virtue of being a protein, which humans and primates don't tolerate well. Peter Duenov, a Bulgarian (Beinsa Duono), spiritual 'master' often advocated a 10 day sprouted wheat 'fast'. I saw a Youtube video on someone who did this once, and they had flashbacks to their past lives in ancient Egypt, speculating that the wheat contained ancient memories.
He essentially thought that all raw food in its natural state contained all that the human organism required, so it didn't matter whether one lived on walnuts or honey or radishes exclusively, so long as the nutrients weren't destroyed during cooking. This makes some sense in the light of the fact that early humans would forage and feed off of one type of food specifically for a duration, based on the type of fruit in the grove they stumbled upon. Mono-diets have been known in ancient Indian systems to be one of the most healing, along with fasting for spiritual and physical purification. .
After his first two children died due to poor diet and the subsequent treatment, he devoted his entire life to testing raw food on himself and those around him, and eventually spreading the message that a raw food diet was the only diet man was designed for. He thought that cooked food fed the ‘false man’, and that only raw food was nourishment to the actual body. 'False man' is at the root of many of our contemporary challenges in life.
He raised his daughter as a raw foodist, and at least into her early teens she ‘had never tasted a morsel of degenerated, cooked food.’ Aterhov wrote the classic ‘Raw-eating’, in 1967, and published it at his own expense, vowing to only ever give it away for free. He sent 4,000 copies to people in positions of power all over the world, in the hopes that he would catalyze a revolution.
No one can really challenge the healing power of a raw food diet; Aterhov simply says that the addiction to cooked foods blinds us to the truth. One of the core solutions, according to him, is not to get children hooked on the cooked foods that will kill them in the end, painfully and long before their time. His language is often incendiary, as is understandable, since he sees his whole mission as making recompense for losing his first two beloved children in their early teens.
This is a threatening idea, it seems. Naturally, I wanted to research what happened with someone who had lived on raw food for so long… and whether they followed through with the diet. All I could find, in a forum somewhere, was that ‘Aterhov died in a prison in Tehran ‘for his beliefs.’
David Wolfe and others mostly plagiarized ‘Raw Eating’ in their book, Nature’s First Law.
I recommend reading Raw Eating. Anita, Aterhov's daughter, seems to have suffered none of the 'diseases' that we attribute to a natural infancy or childhood, which is fascinating to consider in and of itself.
Enzymes - Nature's Intelligence
As Dr. Edward Howell put it, “Enzymes emerge as a true yardstick of vitality.”
There are certainly components of nutrition that the human mind has yet to grasp. At one level, the intelligence of the ‘food’ interfaces with the ‘intelligence’ of the body. The intelligence can partially be referred to as enzymes. Enzymes facilitate digestion, and also perhaps let the body know what to do with nutrients. 'Trauma' and cooking destroys enzymes. For instance, of the 35 known enzymes in raw milk, 30 are destroyed by fire. Once a food is taken in without the requisite enzymes, the body needs to synthesize it's own, and there seems to be a finite supply of these, which is perhaps why cooked foods drain the system and feed disease.
If we are taking in foods that lack enzymes, and forcing the body to draw from its mineral reserves to buffer the ph of the blood due to the repeated intake of acidic foods, this is a huge draw on the body.
Moons on the Fingernails (And other Koans)
The lunula on the nails seem to record either enzymatic potential or mineral reserves. Mine were all but gone, and nothing caused them to 'regrow' until I discovered the fruit-based approach. When I visited a Chinese doctor / monk mentioned elsewhere, he told me... 'too much fire, it has eaten your moons (lunulae). This was a koan. Eventually I understood it to mean too much acidity eroding your mineral reserves, and also... too much fire (cooking) has diminished your enzymes. Master Ming Yi Wang wrote Ancient Wisdom for Total Vitality, in which he extolls a 'mucusless' diet. He believes that raw food is best for the human system, but that those with weak spleen chi cannot digest raw food. However, I have not found this to be the case with FRUIT. Vegetable cellulose, perhaps, as Dr. Morse has noted that patients crippled with something like MS would have to be nursed back to mobility with fruits and fruit juices. The introduction of greens would quickly cause them to seize up again.
Why is This Approach So Little Known?
Exactly. What kind of conditioning did it take to make eating something as simple as fruit seem 'unnatural', of to make eating 'raw, unprocessed food' seem like an eating disorder. Needless to say, there are various campaigns against simplicity in general, and this version of simplicity in particular, because it rivals most known knowledge and medical fallacies.
Eventually, prescribing poisons became the norm. The 'old time' doctors were shut up by death, usually prematurely, as they suffered from their own addictions to food, and sometimes other substances. It became illegal to mention a ‘cure’ for cancer that wasn’t radiation or chemotherapy, the two sanctioned treatments for cancer (which, studies have shown, are less effective than doing nothing, and usually much more harmful), courageous practitioners continually find ways to deliver their healing approaches. Courageous thinkers still navigate the maze to occassionally touch on reality.
This approach is gaining more acceptance in contemporary times, thanks in part to Dr. Robert Morse’s youtube efforts, Dr. Sebi, a resurgence of interest in Ehret and other naturalists, the work of the Medical Medium, etc. Consciousness is evolving, and many young people are seeing through the illusions, and going to the source. Also, this is supported by the fact that, in many ways, the medical establishment has failed miserably. Turning to it now would be liking stepping onto the titanic, after she was already on her way down; 'I have a ticket to paradise, please.'
There are no shortcuts to healing. The 'quacks' are the ones that try to convince you that there are. There are shortcuts out of pain, and those only create a situation where we need to feel that later, compounded, with interest.
Fruit as the Potent Healer: Tips and Ruminations
The Medical Medium healing himself on pears:
“Eating out with my family one evening, I ignore Spirit’s usual dietary recommendations and eat a dish that gives me food poisoning. For two weeks, I lie in bed unable to keep anything down. My parents take me to the doctor’s office and even the ER one night when it gets really bad, but the fever and the pain in my gut don’t stop. Finally Spirit cuts through my delirium and tells me it’s E. coli. He gives me a direct order to go to my great-grandfather’s house and pick a box of heirloom pears from his tree. Spirit says I’m to eat nothing but these ripe pears, and I’ll heal. I do as he says and recover rapidly.”

Note that these were ‘ripe’ heirloom pears from a tree. Those details are critical. Find the oldest varietals of fruit you can, and get as close to the trees as possible, remembering that ‘The Garden of Eden was a fruit orchard.’ While I’ve heard Dr. Robert Morse say that even Walmart grapes have been used to facilitate the healing of cancer, it is best and more effective to stick with older varieties. You’ll be more full and satiated, because you’re getting not only the nutrients, but the energetics that you require. For instance, sometimes I can eat a little handful of concord grapes and feel complete, whereas it takes a pound of ‘red’ seedless grapes.
While any pure source of food tends to come under assault over the course of civilization (for reasons you can speculate on), many farmers and individuals with foresight collect and keep heirloom and ancient seed varietals. Seek those out. It’s important to be willing to pay a little more for the highest quality nourishment, because once the body systems are running optimally, you’ll need a LOT less ‘calories.’
My only critique of the Medical Medium is that the dietary solutions don’t go quite far enough to facilitate healing in more serious cases, and aren't rooted in observations of what has actually worked on human bodies during this time period. Also, the the author seems afraid of offending meat eaters for instance, by simply saying ‘abstain from meat for a duration to achieve healing.’ We have to read, assess, and run his dietary solutions by techniques that have already worked on countless bodies in this reality… simply ‘believing in spirit’ because it says so is often a recipe for disaster. And, did anyone get the impression that the entity in the book, ‘The Spirit of Compassion’, was not that compassionate toward Anthony in his early years? Though I also acknowledge the beautiful work and information he’s delivering to us all, that can be of much use.
Faith in Human Design, Divine Orchestration
The essence of this whole approach, which has been tested across centuries and thousands of people, is that fruits and vegetables, complete and whole, uncooked, evolved to interface with the human intelligence, and the body knows how to use the constituents. Thus, diseases do not exist. They are the product of living out of alignment with nature.
We’ve been programmed to think of the body as a machine that malfunctions on a whim, or that we are victims to external parasites or pathogens. The body intelligence is complete, and outreaches our limited cognition. In other words, what has been refined and perfected over millenia, likely cannot be improved by linear thinking or reasoning. It is absurd to think it could. Science can only 'save us' when a certain story has been continually told. We need to believe in the hope of 'science' or the systems fall apart. I have friends that don't worry about their health, because they believe that medical intervention will rescue them in the end.
Instead of feeding ourselves the foods we’ve thrived on for hundreds of thousands of years or longer, we erode our foods sources, treat the inevitable symptoms with pharmaceuticals, vaccinate those that don’t have access to living foods and even teach that everyone needs vaccination, lace our living foods with pesticides, etc. It is much simpler to simply eat the way we’ve evolved to eat.
I suppose this has something to do with the illusion that lifestyles are continually improving and lifespans are continually increasing. They are not.
Let's look to some long-lived cultures for a few more clues...
Abhakansians often lived to be 150 or older, even into the 1970’s, when Sula Benet did her seminal work on their culture, How to Live to Be 100. They were still active and even sexual into their later years, preferring not to be married until they turned 50.
"Fresh food, as far as we know, has been appreciated in both preliterate and modern Caucasian cultures. They do use dried meat when fresh is not available, and some pickled foods. Leftovers are discarded. They are aware that the loss of freshness means the loss of nutrients and good taste. The Caucasians consider storing unclean and unhealthy. Spices are ground just before they are used, and Caucasians avoid storing herbs, which gradually lose their flavor and color.
Wild growing plants are plentiful in the woods and meadows of the Caucasus and are collected eagerly. They are equal if not superior to the cultivated species in vitamins, oils, protein, and natural sugars.
The Rules of Diet
Two factors remain constant in the Caucasian diet:
No overeating. Fewer calories are consumed in all areas of the Caucasus than the AMA recommends for Americans. Experiments conducted at Cornell University by Clive McKay showed that restricting caloric intake prolongs the life of rats, but only in the early period of life. A similar stretching out of earlier life was achieved by Denham Harman of the University of Nebraska.
An extremely high intake of natural vitamins in fresh vegetables, both cultivated and wild. They replace meat and sweet foods in the diet of the Caucasians. This massive vitamin C intake could immunize the organism against many diseases."

The consideration is how to keep calorie intake low while consuming many vital nutrients.
To the Caucasians, when ill, 'meat is not allowed, but fruit is.' We are all 'ill', to some extent, suffering the excesses of our culture. Once we realize that, we can take the necessary measures to heal. Thinking 'I'm ok, I only have these symptoms... a,b,c,d,etc, etc is the recipe for a downward spiral.
Okinawans commonly lived to be over 100 before WWII destroyed their culture and introduced American influences, including toxic, processed, and packaged foods.
It's clear from the Weston Price (Nutrition and Physical Degeneration) work how insidious these influences are, and how detrimental their influence on the human organism. (Though I wouldn't read that work without also reading The Chemistry of Man by Dr. Jensen). People jump to conclusions too easily via the Price work, without researching other facts.
The Master Jain yogis of Mt. Abu India who live 1,200 years or more, fed mainly on figs, but sometimes ate olives, for which we judge they believed olives were health giving to balance the excessive sugar content of the figs.

Li Ching-Yuen purportedly lived to be 236. He was a traveling herbalist, and lived mostly on his own herbs. Recall that the ideal food for the system are fruits and herbs, especially freshly gathered herbs.
- The 5 herbs Li ate were Goji Berry, lingzhi, wild ginseng, he shoo wu, Gotu Kola, and rice wine.
Anyway, the long-lived cultures of the world are often attacked, in various ways, in writing and in person. We are meant to believe that we live to be approximately 70 years old. Notice how every time you google one, you'll get the 'skeptic's view, questioning their lifespan. Which is why it is important to go to old books, which include verified sources.
I was recently reading about Los Viejos, ‘The Elders’ of Vilcabamba, who had attained some measure of vitality into old age. What happened to their numbers with the ‘Westernization’ of their culture, and the introduction of pharmaceuticals and modern technological influences was devastating.
Here are just a few sad tales from the region from an odd book I stumbled upon about Johnny Lovewisdom and his entourage.
One man, who was around 112, later slipped and fell while working and sprained his wrist. He was taken to the hospital by his 60 year old daughter and was given antibiotics. He died two weeks later. Recently an oldie called Segundo aged 97 came down with a cold after he had been working out in the rain. His family took him down to hospital, they gave him an injection and in one hour he was dead.

The Health of Children - The Future
The health (and even the continuance) of our cultures and our nations is contingent upon the health of our children. It is much easier to prevent disease than it is to cure it. Especially with the proliferation of newly-invented toxins and chemicals, and the entrenchment of odd dietary THEORIES that have never supported healing of the diseases that plague humanity (paleo and ketogenic variations, for instance)
Children who subsist mostly on ‘dead’ foods, will suffer more and more disease. Where this disease manifests, where this mucus settles, has to do with genetic weaknesses (which can be ascertained to some degree by iridology) and physical trauma, which weakens the energetics of the body, organ, or system, which allows invasive energetics to enter. Genetic weaknesses, according to Dr. Morse and personal experience, tend to cause the manifestation of a disease about 10 years prior than the previous generation.
Our charge is to find our own healing, take our bodies back from a system seemingly hell-bent on our destruction, and to begin to nourish our own bodies with living foods and those of our children with living foods. IN this way, much of the suffering in the world can be transcended. As this occurs, people will stop bickering over questions that don’t even matter, and cultures that are in poverty can be rebuilt based on their traditional foods.
Not all living foods are equal. Even those are being attacked, with pesticides, hybridization, and genetic modifications. The most healing foods tend to be the most ancient / unaltered. Anthony Williams calls wild blueberries ‘The Resurrection Food’, becauase they support one in rising out of the ashes, and healing virtually anything. Their power comes from their ancient adaptogens, which have survived virtually unaltered since ancient times. Most foods are hybridized and altered to improve ‘taste’ via sugar contents, or ‘yields’. Sometimes, ‘bitterness’ is removed, and these are some of the most medicinal parts of the plant. Eat foods whole where possible, including skins, as these often contain anti parasites and anti fungals to protect toe fruits from insects and mold. Eat ripe fruits, as most fruits shipped from other countries are picked green, and left to ripen in shipping crates or in the store. They are picked green to avoid damage during shipping. We don’t know how this affects the nutrient quality of the foods, not to mention petroleum used in shipping, etc. Eating local foods tunes one into the frequency of the region. Here’s another idea that science perhaps cannot yet substantiate, though I invite you to experiment with it.
Berries and Melons
Dr. Morse continually mentios that the ideal foods for human detoxification and revitalization are berries and melons. He is the most adamant that humans should only eat fruit, during times of healing, and also forever (though he says some salads are allowed to balance the diet after healing has been accomplished, in a roughly 80/10/10 ratio. Other practitioners suggest it as a therapeutic diet, and then allow one to go off of it. Of course, this makes little sense if the disease you just ‘cured’ re-manifests’, though there are perhaps ways we can achieve a more balanced diet after the total healing is achieved. Perhaps this includes the introduction of more vegetables, nuts, seeds, ancient grains.
In How to Live to Be 100, referenced earlier, I stumbled upon an interesting passage...
"Hippocrates reported that the people of the Caucasus lived on cherries, pine cones, apples, melons, and berries which grew wild in the woods. Even at that time the area was famous for longevity, and the Greeks may have sought dietary clues as to why these people attained such unusual ages. " Page 103.
Is there something to this 'berries and melons' approach? The pine cones, I assume, refer to pine nuts, which come from pine cones. WE can only imagine what these 'unusual ages' were back in the time of Hippocrates.
Objecting to The Objections
The objections to fruit and herbs as potent healing foods, or fruit exclusively as potentially the most healing diet there is, are mostly baseless, though a few are valid, and I'll touch on the ones at the forefront of my mind...
The objections are that fruit theoretically couldn’t support healing in the human organisms based on sceintific studies. Of course, this ojection is obliterated by case studies. If it doesn’t align with our studies or theories about metabolism and nutrients, those theories are likely incorrect or incomplete. The ‘fruit feeds cancer’ dialog fits in here.
When you begin researching vegan dietetics, you'll immediately come upon B vitamins that some sources say are only available in sufficient quantities in animal products. Many fruitarians supplement vitamin B, as a ‘backup. Dr. Morse says that the orange stuff will come out of your pores when you detox, and it inhibits healing.
He breaks down vitamins and othe rnutrients coming from plant based sources in his The Detox Miracle Sourcebook:
“Vitamin B12 Other names: Cobalamin, cyanocobalamin Actions: Essential for growth, production and regeneration of red blood cells. Best sources: Sunflower seeds, comfrey leaves, kelp, bananas, concord grapes.”

“As to 15 or more “B” Vitamins said to be essential for health, long living people ignored them instinctively. Adele Davis as an authority to such claims, suicided really eating so much liver, and other sources, so we shall postpone discussion on them until an advanced study of Carpophagous (feeding on fruit) nutrition is presented.”
Others believe that once the colon bacterial flora is rebalanced, the body synthesizes its own vitamins. Mango, a prominent fruitarian, wrote that B12 is only relevant on a high fat diet, and that the 'normal levels' for measurements of B12 are arbitrary.
Michael Arnstein, fruitarian runner, theFruitarian.com, found that, after some years as a fruitarian athlete, all of his nutrient levels were perfect, and the 'b12 was a little low.' He's run the 6th fastest marathon ever recorded on the track.
"At the beginning of spring and for the two months following, nettle supplies a highly reconstituting food. It can be consumed in soup, in puree, or steamed. It is very rich in vitamins and other indispensable elements. Dried in the shade and reduced to a powder, it can be used to season soups, salads, etc." Beinsa Duono - http://www.essenespirit.com/eating.html
What are these 'indispensable elements?' The Abhakazians also prized nettles, and Sula Bennet writes that it is high in B12.
As a more radical objection, do ‘vitamins’ actually even exist? Are the 'normal levels' arbitrary. Some think they were spawned as a marketing ploy, and to keep people even further from the truth.
Edward Shook, prominent herbalist quoted earlier, thought that vitamins didn't even exist, and focusing on them derailed vitality, because when one eats actual foods, and treats any imbalances that do occur with herbs, they are always supplied in abundance, and utilized correctly.
"There are no such things as vitamins A, B, C, D, or any other letter in the alphabet. They simply do not exist, except in the fanciful imagination of unscientific minds, who first originated the idea, or those who believe it, because it is so extensively advertised. The very word is a clumsy misnomer. "Vita" is from the Latin meaning "to live." The word "min" is only an abbreviation of the Latin word "minimus", a minim, or drop of liquid, the smallest liquid measure, the sixtieth part of a fluid drachm. Therefore, literally, a Vitamin is the tiniest drop of liquid life. Strange are some beliefs of man, and gullibility of the multitudes!

It's a sad thing to destroy one's health, or shy away from a natural and healing diet, for the sake of something that may not exist. But we often do this (as I've done it with "complete protein", which the body can not and will never be able to utilize.
After that passage, Shook goes into a detailed analysis of chemistry of the body, in terms of the minerals that have been found make up various tissues of the body.
Nutritionists - The Blind Leading The Blind?
Nutritionists usually have their heart in the right place, and their head in the wrong place (though there are a few exceptions). Usually, they've built their identity and business around their approach, with firmly entrenches them, no matter how ineffective (or even harmful) their approach actually is. Their entire practice and business is usually based in principles that are purely on conjecture and assumptions. They'll go through a standard nutrition program that only teaches the basic fundamentals, most of which are incorrect upon deeper inspection.
I recently saw a nutritionist post something about the cure for inflammation being a paleo diet, and she was quite offended when I offered her the fruit solution. Her reply was 'I’ve known many raw foodists. Usually they need cooked foods to be more grounded. Fruit may be working for you, but only you, I'm sorry to say.” Someone entrenched or invested in false doctrine have the uncanny ability to ignore all evidence presented to them. I only mention this as a caveat. Once people hone in on where the problem is, they often turn to a nutritionist in order to 'fix their diet', only to be lead further into their disease. It is up to each of us to do our own research. If a 'nutritionist' says 'avoid protein and eat more fruit', perhaps perk up your ears, because they may have discovered for them self what actually works to facilitate healing in the human system.
Paleo or Ketogenic diets are better supported by research and Weston Price deductions, by far. Then again, who is funding the studies? And what is the agenda? I spent some time in a mainstream nutrition program, until I realized it was fruitless. All we did was learn the basic version of nutrition, and watch videos outline Weston Price's work. We didn't study one diet that actually facilitated deep healing, which is my primary concern. People come out of nutrition school wide and hopeful, but advertising the wrong message, often that 'fruit feeds cancer' (because paleo is currently one of the most popular diets in America). If the 'paleo' diet worked, cancer rates would be decreasing already... however, they are still increasing, sadly.
The Studies (or archeological evidence) say that Humans Evolved for a Paleo Type Diet
If humans at one time resorted to paleo diets, it is likely that before that they were subsisting mostly on plants. In a tropical environment where early humanity probably flourished, fruits are easier to access than meat.
This is actually a relatively new 'fad', and there is little to look at outside of anecdotal evidence. Traditionally Inuits and cultures that lived mostly on seal and fish were thought to be short-lived. I haven't validated this, and there were likely other factors contributing to the equation.
My primary objection to paleo and ketogenic diets (other than the fact that they didn't work for me during personal trial and error) is that they’ve never been able to heal many afflictions for anyone, including the ubiquitous ‘cancer’, though it has been tried repeatedly, by Atkins and others. Instead, use strategies that have actually worked. I’ve worked with clients who were paleo for 5-10 years, with no noticeable improvement in their symptoms. If, after that long on a diet, you haven’t healed a symptom, it is time to reassess, regardless of what the newest studies suggest. Paleo type beliefs often correlate with a selfish or solipsistic world view. If it is good for me, I'll eat the organs of animals, support untold suffering, harboring under the delusion that this is required for the human organism. As in certain Chinese medical practices, if the lion testicle acts as a natural viagra, kill every lion in the landscape; let those who live in the aftermath, in the extinction of the lion, fend for themselves, so to speak. Some paleo and ketogenic practitioners advise 'cheat days' where you eat essentially whatever one desires, and you can tell a lot by what one desires on those days; addictions, level of consciousness. Some practitioners load their plates with snickers, iced cream, pizza, not realizing their ingesting toxins that will remain in their systems for years in some of those cases, while supporting immense suffering (dairy industry).
Most paleo and ketogenic dieters need to fast regularly to maintain equilibrium, after eating so many congestive foods, their eyes show congestion ie iridology, and they often promote stimulants such as coffee to keep their systems and metabolisms moving, not realizing they are also eroding their vitality in the process. If someone sings the praises or necessity of coffee, they are likely on a path that is not nourishing vitality.
When the system is nourished, energy is high and no stimulants are needed.
Fruitarians and raw foodists lose their teeth.
This is actually the only objection that proves interesting. What is it about teeth generally? What is with 'wisdom teeth' that need to be surgically extracted from the jaw, because they cause crowding.
As I noted, Dr. Morse had tooth issues, and had his teeth done. He attributes this not to fruit, but to slipping off of the fruit diet, into the food addictions. He tells a story of one patient on fruit, who's teeth began to remineralize to such an extent that cavities were ejected. I've watched people write in and say that they were experiencing cavities for the first time on the fruit diet, and he suggests rinsing their mouth out with Baking Soda, to alkalize, which makes some sense.
Does this relate to Weston Price and poor diets, which were almost always accompanied by malformed dental arches? One wonders if a raw foodist, eating a diet high in roughage and the chewing the requires, would ever face tooth challenges?
Johnny Lovewisdom lost many of his teeth, but he had dental carries on most of his teeth during youth. Some of his followers had their teeth pulled, under the assumption that, as fruitarians, they would grow a third set. Mango, prominent long-time fruitarian, has purportedly lost a few teeth.
This is a complex equation. Non ripe fruits are acidic, particularly citrus and oranges, though I've also noticed it with apples. Most of us only have access to non-ideal fruits.
Remember that the teeth contain 50% of the calcium in the whole body, and because calcium is what is primarily utilized for tissue repair, it is likely that, once the body begins healing, it may draw some minerals from the teeth at first.
I personally have noticed a dead tooth that was gray turn white again, and another tooth turn more transparent, and teeth slightly less white overall (signifying potential calcium 'usage' for repairing tissues?).
Tooth whiteners, by the way, mostly contain flouride, which inhibits the function of the pineal gland, weakening access to intuition. We are made to see white teeth as ideal, sold tooth whitening products that weaken intuition, and therefore render us even less likely to see the 'most natural diet imaginable; raw fruits and vegetables' as natural at all.
Where will you get your protein? The body needs X amount per day.
This is based entirely on misinformation. All you’ll notice if you reduce protein, is healing. If you’re a body-builder, you may need to reassess your strategy if you desire longevity and vitality. There is a distinction between health and fitness. The word protein proliferated more and more as the cattle and dairy industries rose in power (as a glance at the Oxford English Dictionary will show). Perhaps, like all ambitious enterprises, they were creating a market.
'Protein' is not used by the body, according to Dr. Morse. Protein is a chain of amino acids. The body simply needs amino acids, in the proper ratios, to build and to function, all of which can be found in abundance in plants, without much effort. If a complete protein' is eaten, it is actually a drain on the system, because the body needs to break those bonds (with stomach acid) and use only the constituents it needs, flushing out 99% of the rest, taxing the kidneys. This whole process wears out vital organs, and acidifies the stomach, leading to low / mid back pain at first, and eventually pain generally, including a postural 'curl' around this stomach, which becomes like an acidic 'black whole' over time, devouring us from within. This is perhaps why eating foods that don't require a highly acid stomach often corrects the posture, including lifelong cases of scoliosis.
Gerson and other ‘Dietary Strategies’ for healing Cancer don’t work, otherwise we wouldn’t need Chemo or Radiation.
I think we've covered this above, to some degree. Some work at a much higher rate than the sanctioned strategies, and have been tested repeatedly in clinical settings. They are, in a sense, as if not more predictable than the standard treatments, and without the terrible side effects (the worst of which is often death). Do you think the 'symptoms' of detoxification are bad? Try the 'symptoms' after a massive dose of radiation or chemicals.
We are carnivores by design. Or omnivores.
Look at the protein content in human milk versus the protein content in carnivore milk, not to mention the design of intestines, stomach, jaw, and teeth.
We are most similar to vegetation-feeding primates, and among those, most similar to those that subsist mostly on fruit, like the Gibbon and the Chimp. Though the enzymes in our mouth are different, pointing to a more frugivorous diet being the most suitable.
No long-lived culture lives on predominantly meat, though some have lived on a starch based, low protein diet. The ones that live on meat as a staple pay for that in reduced lifespan. Tibetans as well, though some lamas have learned to bypass some of this through spiritual practices.
Cultures that successfully incorporated meat into their diets, didn’t only use meat… they also used the organs and all parts of the animal. Just eating the meat is not a complete food in any sense, and leaves much of the carcass wasted. Meat eating is detrimental to the ecosystem (though so is vegetable farming, if you read The Vegetarian Myth). Farmland and over use of agriculture created some of the world's largest deserts, such as the Gobi. Fruit orchards are sustainable, and much fruit can even be dry farmed.
The Abkhazians only ate fresh meat, when they could see the head on the table, because it meant that the animal had just been slaughtered.
Our culture is raised on meat that is already in a state of decomposition. Any energy gotten from the meat is likely the adrenaline in the tissues entering our own bloodstream.
Also, grass fed is the only meat that is balanced in the nutrient complex, and grass comes with its own complications. Due to the shallow root structure, it gathers and retains an abundance of air born wastes as they fall; radioactive fallout and the like. The deeper rooted plants (perennial vegetables and FRUIT TREES) are more free from this. So these toxins are present in the meat to some extent.
The body is brilliantly designed for survival, in that, in times of scarcity, we can eat many things and survive. To thrive, however, the body needs to sustain itself on the foods it was designed, beautifully designed to ingest.
Breaking Free of the Mass Hypnosis
The human mind is easily susceptible to programming and hypnosis. The powers that be are well aware of this. After something is repeated enough times, we can literally begin to overlook what is real, despite the evidence in front of our face.
Open a piece of ripe fruit, gawk upon the symmetry; inhale the aroma... the tongue begins to salivate. The mouth produces enzymes particular to frugivores. Sink in those teeth that were designed to eat fruit and experience the explosion of flavor. Fruit can be eaten raw, without seasoning, and is enjoyable that way; sometimes even rapturous. One can eat fruit without worrying about developing an addiction to it, because it is a natural appetite. Most of what we're feeding with other forms of 'nourishment' are primarily addictions. Starches require seasoning or salt, and usually cooking... once eaten, it is hard to stop... fruit gives a clear end signal when the body is full; meat requires seasoning and cooking to even be rendered palatable.
As you’ve probably surmised, I’ve spent years and decades researching obsessively, testing, and sharing what I discover. I acknowledge that I am outside of the mainstream channel of contemporary research. If one looks around at the scarcity of vitality, it seems to me that it only flourishes outside of the mainstream.... so I'm grateful to be here.
When I embarked on eating mostly fruit, a wary soul said to me... 'Do you want your brain to devolve into chimp status?' Such is the superstition that abounds. No, I'd like to continue to be able to distinguish fact from fiction.
In essence, never let anyone convince you that your ‘thing’ cannot be healed naturally. We are designed to heal. It would take an army to stop us.
