She came complaining of a lack of connection to her daughter. She thought that it was something that her daughter was doing. 'She is going through something, and pulling away,' her mother lamented.
'Well, let's work on it and see what we discover,' I suggested. I always work on the one that comes in with the 'complaint.' The children are on another journey.
When I adjusted her posture, by touching her sternum and lifting, she shuddered and cried. She'd been carrying the weight of the world, in silence. Her heart had been shattered. When I asked her about it; she shook her head. I didn't need to ask, but it is empowering to talk about.
I noticed that there was an asymmetry; a difference between the right and left side. When I walked to her right side (her masculine side), she was calm and forgiving. When I walked to her left side (her feminine side), she was angry and rigid.
A wound with the mother will invariably show up in the daughter. There is no way around it. I traced the postural changes through the conversation; father and mother. Collapse and open.
This is how I decode the sacred messages from the body; the whispers of consciousness through the nervous system.
These patterns are what affect our lives.
As she lied down on her back, I touched her feet. More tears. You are supported, I whispered. People crave the physical feeling of support. It links to emotional and metaphorical support.
We sat this way for a long time, as the tears flowed. Eventually, I whispered 'It's time to let your mother go.'
There was a torrential outpouring of tears; convulsions. I held this support through it all; played silent witness.
And then she nodded, resolute.
I know I do... I am. ready.
We then worked through that, with all of the fearlessness that we could muster.
We worked through her own birth, to her mother's death in the span of a few hours.
She wrote me a week later.
"My relationship with my daughter has changed completely. She just came up and hugged me for the first time in months. Thank you!"
Healing is a vast field; open up.
